Some pieces from my work in progress. I’ve been posting them here and there on Instagram. I will get better about posting them on here.
So very excited to finally get to say I’m a published poet! Announcement of the pre-order was made on her Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/p/BfHqZi_hTdD
The end of the year is approaching quickly. So I figured I’d pop in, say hello and update you all about what I’ve been up to.
I’m still doing game broadcasting, and enjoying it. I attended TwitchCon in Long Beach, CA in October, and had an amazing time meeting other broadcasters, content creators, and developers to share our experiences on Twitch and about our love of gaming in general.
As for creative endeavors… I’m finally writing again. I’ve decided to pick up an old novel idea that I’ve had swirling about in my head for a few years, and have been putting some work in on that as much as I can fit in. Just for fun, I’m sharing a paragraph from something I wrote this week. It’s a romance with some horror elements in it. I hope I can do the story in my head justice.
What have you been up to, dear readers? What is pushing you creatively lately?
The guys at 1K Gamers asked me to join them for some Castle Crashers, and chat. We talked about how I got my gamertag, what got me into streaming, my opinions on networking, and how to handle trolls in channel. What was supposed to be about a 30 minute episode, turned into over an hour! We had so much fun. Check out the episode here. I’ve been enjoying guesting on other gamers streams, and doing interviews like the one I did on NerdNerfer‘s channel for his Streamer Spotlight segment. I hope to continue doing that, and maybe start doing interviews or podcasts of my own!
That brings me to my question. What are your favorite mobile games?
Some of my favorites are Kim Kardashian Hollywood, Covet Fashion, Choices, Cross Stitch World, Super Farm Heroes Saga, Tetris Battle, Words with Friends, and Criminal Case.
It’s been a while, I know. I’ve been busy working on my other love, game streaming, broadcasting on Twitch. It’s a hobby right now, but hoping that I could make it into something more. If that is of interest to you, check out my page, MartianKat, for more info. I’ve just hit 600 followers, and 3 subscribers, so I’m really excited about continuing to do broadcasting, and growing within the community.
As for writing, I’ve decided to start fresh on a novel concept I started. I initially started it modern with a female protagonist, in the reboot I’m going more period, and from a male perspective. I’m enjoying it for now. When I get more into it, I’ll post more.
Affiliates on Twitch now can have monthly paid subscribers. This news came down about a week ago and just went live yesterday. Twitch is just a hobby for me. I enjoy playing and talking about video games, and thought it would be cool to share that with others. Now I’m finding that I could actually begin to make money doing what I love to do? It’s a weird concept, but an opportunity I’m grateful for for sure.
If you enjoy laughing, and chatting with others about games, do consider giving my channel a follow. I’m approaching 500 followers there, and it’s always more fun with a group. I’m on Twitch at: twitch.tv/martiankat
It’s been a year since we started this crazy journey. We’re nearing 400 martians, and I’m over the moon! I was invited to become a Twitch Affiliate, meaning I have an option to now begin to earn while I stream, which is pretty darn cool! Lots of alien love to y’all for coming by, watching my streams, hosting me, chatting with me, listening to me rage when things were nuts, and following this loco rocket into outer space. This is only the beginning. Means I’ll need to work that much harder to keep your viewership, and expand our base. Let’s do it!
This is my first time writing on my blog about something like this. Friends of mine know I’m really not a fan of things like Kickstarters, and similar funding sources for entertainment, but a project has come along that really caught my attention, and so I figured I’d bring the topic up here to one eat a little bit of crow, because I said I’d never back a kickstarter, and to hype up this film project that I think is deserving of attention and funding.
Lashonda‘s a driven, successful businesswoman
with a passion for Korean food (and Korean men);
Sung-min‘s a laid-back artist who loves good music
as much as he loves to kick back with a comic book.
“When their marriage goes sour,
they both seek out affairs online…
and accidentally end up secretly dating each other.
I’m Having an Affair With My Wife! is on course to be the the first US romantic comedy in 17 years to feature a couple played by a black female and a male of Eastern Asian descent.
I have the awesome distinction of being the first backer Jen and her producing partner, Samantha Aiken, had for the film and that was well before their official fundraising campaign kicked off on April 1st. So technically, I don’t have to eat said crow, because I gave money to this project without being prompted by a campaign because that’s how much I believe in it! All kidding aside, Jen and Sam are two very cool and talented ladies. I’m a fan, and also a fan of the idea of an interracial married couple being on screen and showing a more authentic side of life within a marriage. Something I think is very underrepresented in the Romantic Comedy genre.
I highly recommend checking out the sites for I’m Having an Affair With My Wife!, which has already found their leading actors, and consider donating to their Seed and Spark campaign. Additional links here:
