Taking on this challenge sparked some memories and good conversations of years that have passed. The photo that I chose for this challenge is one that I shot of the Fiori di Como, a glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly. This sculpture is featured in the lobby area of the Bellagio hotel/casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The photo was taken 9 years ago during the first road trip I had ever taken with my husband. When we walked into the hotel it was the first thing I noticed. All of this sunshine emanating from the glass above. I had never seen anything like it before, so I took the picture. Once I got home I looked through the photos on my camera and realized that I really didn’t like the way they turned out. The colors weren’t as bright as I remembered. Still I posted the picture to DeviantArt with minimal editing.
The lone comment that I got on the photo was that I should brighten it up a little. A critique that I agreed with at the time but didn’t do anything about until this challenge came up. It was time to make good on what I said I would do and I think the result made the picture and the memory just a little bit brighter.
